Fantasy value for Marcel Reece is soaring

The Oakland Raiders got thin at the running back position in a hurry yesterday. The extent of those injuries have now been confirmed by the Chronicle.

Both McFadden and his top backup Mike Goodson are dealing with high ankle sprains, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Run DMC has not been know to bounce back quickly from injury – so don’t believe the hype that Oakland is selling about him playing on Sunday. It would be a very pleasant surprise but is also extremely unlikely unless the injury info above is false. High ankle sprains come with a typical 4 week recovery timeline for NFL running backs. That would put McFadden on the shelf until the fantasy football playoffs begin.

If Mike Goodson is also on the shelf for several weeks – look for Marcel Reece to be the major beneficiary. Reece can ball and has excellent hands. This also boosts Carson Palmer’s value as the Raiders will need to spread the field and throw early and often. 60+ throws per game for the Raiders will not be out of reach in this scenario.
